Nina

On November 13, 2012, we got our fifth puppy to raise for The Seeing Eye. She is a Lab/Golden mix.

We were puppy-sitting Nellie, another club puppy when Nina arrived. They quickly became good friends! The green color on Nina's ear is dye from her tattoo.

Nina's first visit to the ocean at four months.

At six months, Nina finds a new friend at the mall!

At about six months, our dogs are tested publicly and "vested" by an Area Coordinator of The Seeing Eye. Nina passed her test at a Walmart store.

Nina is a Golden/Lab mix and loves the water. Here she has just spotted a couple of geese, but she wouldn't harm them!

Nina loved the Doo Dah Parade where she recognized a few distant cousins in this wolf pack! A news photographer was happy to document the event!

Nina returned to The Seeing Eye for training as a guide dog on October 28, 2013.

On April 7, 2014, we were able to watch Nina's "graduation march" (called "Town Walk") after successfully completing her guide dog training in Morristown, NJ.

We were not permitted to get close enough to be recognized, so another person took these close-up photos with our camera.

After Nina completed her normal training as a guide dog, she was matched with a blind girl who wanted to go to college. There was another problem, however. The girl was not only blind, but physically handicapped in other ways. Nina was then given three additional months of training with her new partner. Both of them are presently attending classes at the university!

We got our sixth puppy to raise in January, 2014. Click here to learn about Pippi
